LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE: LESSONS AT HOME s1ep4-6

We’re continuing to watch LITTLE HOUSE for our tv time at night and it has quickly become one of our FAVORITE things to watch…maybe ever. Other than Avonlea and Christy.

We also LOVE Anne of Green Gables : all the movies. Oh and Creatures Big and Small. lol.

These shows are so wholesome, highlight the importance of the nuclear family, and usually have a Biblical or Positive message to each episode.

Continuing through our series, here’s lessons for season 1.ep:4-6.

Episode 4: Mr. Edward’s Homecoming. In this episode, we’re introduced to Mr.Edwards. The thing I loved about this episode is how the Ingalls just welcomed their old friend to stay, like he was a family member.

Takeaway: There is this wonderful message in these episodes of working together. What God has given to one family actually belongs to Jesus and should be shared among the body of Christ. We find out something very sad about Mr.Edward’s past and why he cares for little Laura, especially, so much.

Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. – Romans 12:13

Episode 5: Love for Johnny Johnson. A “love” triangle insues amongst the children when Laura gets her first crush on an older boy, Johnny Johnson. But Johnny isn’t interested in Laura but her older sister Mary. This episode was really sweet.

Takeaway: Jealousy is a nasty rascal and can have you turning on those you sincerely love because the envy is rotting away at your heart. Not only did I talk to my own girls about waiting until marriage to want to court (old fashioned dating) but we talked about jealousy and fighting among siblings and friends. Jealousy only ends up destroying and we shouldn’t look to what others have but be grateful for what we do have. And don’t let boys come between sisters. 😉

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones. – Proverbs 14:30

Episode 6: If I Wake Before I Should Die. This episode had me laughing. While it is sad, there were humorous parts that I just thought were so funny. I don’t want to spoil this episode but there IS an important takeaway.

Takeaway: Love those you’re with NOW, fiercely. Don’t wait to say the things you’ll regret not saying if they died. We only have TODAY and we should fill this day with LOVE. Don’t go to sleep angry or upset. Don’t put off tomorrow what needs to be done TODAY.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalm 118:24

I pray you and yours are enjoying the show. SOLI DEO GLORIA.
